How to Deep Clean Your Wheels with OPTiX Nano APC — GLE 53 AMG Edition
Wheels are one of the hardest areas to keep clean — brake dust, grime, and road contaminants bond fast to alloy surfaces. In this post, we walk through how we used OPTiX Nano APC (All Purpose Cleaner) to restore a set of AMG GLE 53 wheels to showroom condition.
Why APC for Wheels?
Standard wheel cleaners work on surface contamination, but APC is in a different class. OPTiX Nano APC is a heavy-duty degreaser that cuts through:
- Baked-on brake dust
- Engine bay grime
- Road tar and industrial fallout
- General wheel and tyre contamination
It's safe on alloys, painted surfaces, and rubber — and dilutes down for lighter maintenance cleans too.
The Process — AMG GLE 53 Wheel Detail
- Rinse the wheel with a strong jet to remove loose dirt
- Dilute OPTiX APC (typically 1:5 for wheels, 1:10 for light cleaning)
- Apply liberally with a spray bottle to the whole wheel face, barrel, and spokes
- Agitate with a wheel brush — let the product dwell for 2–3 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly and inspect — a second pass may be needed for heavily soiled wheels
- Dry with a clean microfibre and protect with your coating of choice
