OPTiX APC or Iron Remover for wheels? Choose by contamination

General grime and ferrous fallout are different wheel-cleaning problems. OPTiX APC and OPTiX Iron Remover should be selected by the contamination and the wheel finish—not used as interchangeable strong cleaners.

APC targets general grime

An all-purpose cleaner can help with compatible oily road film and general dirt when used at the current label dilution. It is not a guarantee that embedded ferrous particles will be removed.

Iron Remover targets ferrous contamination

Iron remover is intended for compatible surfaces affected by iron fallout. The visible reaction often associated with these products is not a reason to leave it on longer than directed or use it on an unsuitable finish.

Check the wheel before choosing

Identify whether the wheel is factory painted, clear-coated, polished, anodised, chrome, matte, refinished or damaged. If the finish is unknown, sensitive, hot or compromised, stop and obtain manufacturer or professional advice.

A safe decision process

  1. Move the vehicle out of direct heat and allow wheels and brakes to cool.
  2. Wear the PPE required by the current label and safety data sheet.
  3. Test a discreet area when compatibility is confirmed but the surface is unfamiliar.
  4. Use one product for the identified contamination, following its exact dilution and dwell guidance.
  5. Do not allow product to dry and rinse as instructed.
  6. Reinspect before deciding whether a separate later process is necessary.

Never mix the products

Do not combine APC, iron remover or other detailing chemicals in a bottle, bucket or on the wheel. If separate processes are appropriate, rinse thoroughly and follow the current instructions for each product.

Frequently asked questions

Can APC remove iron contamination?

It may remove surrounding grime, but embedded ferrous contamination requires the correct compatible process.

Can both products be used in one job?

Only as separate, compatible processes when needed. Never mix them, and rinse according to each label.

Are all wheel finishes safe?

No. Confirm the exact wheel finish and current product compatibility before use.
