The first seven days after ceramic coating: a cautious aftercare plan

The first week after a ceramic coating is not the time to substitute a generic internet timetable for the actual product instructions. Cure and early-care requirements can differ, so the current label or installer handover must control the plan.

Get the instructions before collection

Ask for the coating name, application date, early-care restrictions and the correct contact if something unexpected happens. Keep those instructions where every driver can find them.

A cautious first-week routine

  1. Follow the exact current guidance for water, washing, storage and handling.
  2. Avoid unnecessary exposure to sprinklers, coastal spray, dust or workshop fallout when instructed.
  3. Do not place covers, magnets or accessories on the paint unless specifically approved.
  4. Inspect the vehicle in good light without rubbing the surface.
  5. If contamination lands on the paint, contact the installer or OPTiX for product-specific advice rather than letting it bake on or scrubbing it.

What if it rains?

Do not panic or automatically wipe the vehicle. Follow the coating-specific handover advice. If unexpected water exposure occurs during the instructed cure period, ask the installer what to do and provide clear photographs if requested.

When can the car be washed?

Use the exact interval in the current product instructions or installer handover. We are deliberately not publishing a universal wash time because it may be wrong for the coating and conditions involved.

Do not try to fix uncertainty with more product

A quick detailer, spray sealant or aggressive cleaner may interfere with diagnosis or early cure. If the paint looks patchy, smeared or contaminated, stop and obtain advice before adding anything.

For the broader care pathway, see the OPTiX ceramic coating guide. Customers with professional installations can contact their installer through the current directory.

Frequently asked questions

When can I wash the car?

Follow the exact current label or installer handover. Do not rely on a universal timetable.

What if it rains?

Follow the supplied instructions and contact the installer if the exposure occurred during the stated cure period.

What if contamination lands on the paint?

Seek prompt product-specific advice. Do not leave damaging contamination in place, but do not scrub or improvise with unapproved chemicals.
