OPTiX OP888 Universal Ceramic Coating is the practical starting point. It is designed with controlled application and forgiving working characteristics, but the finish still depends on thorough preparation, a cool dry surface and careful levelling.

If you want the application items together, choose the OP888 Standard Kit when you already understand the coating process. The OP888 Deluxe Kit adds more of the supporting items for a complete project.

I already have coating experience and want the performance-focused option

FMJ Graphene Ceramic Coating is the thicker, tougher and more demanding coating in the current OPTiX range. It suits professional installers and advanced users who can control preparation, application timing, levelling and curing conditions. The FMJ Standard Kit packages the coating with application essentials.

I want a professional-only coating or an installed coating package

Do not buy a professional-only coating and treat it as a casual DIY product. OP1-J and OP1-GQP are intended for trained or certified installers and controlled professional application. The coating purchase journey

  1. Inspect the surface. Identify paint defects, contamination, previous protection, sensitive materials and any damage that a coating will not hide.
  2. Choose the applicator level. Match the product to your real experience and working environment. If the coating is professional-only, use a certified installer.
  3. Prepare properly. Wash, decontaminate and correct the surface where required. A coating protects the finish you leave underneath it; it does not replace paint correction.
  4. Read the current product directions. Confirm the suitable surfaces, working conditions, wipe-off method, curing requirements and safety information before opening the bottle.
  5. Apply in a controlled area. Work out of direct sun on a cool, dry surface with clean applicators, lighting and enough towels ready before you begin.
  6. Inspect every section. Check for missed areas, residue or high spots while they can still be corrected safely.
  7. Allow the coating to cure. Keep it away from water, contamination and unsuitable chemicals for the period stated in the current OPTiX directions.
  8. Maintain it correctly. Use safe washing, clean microfibre and compatible maintenance products. A coating is not scratch-proof, stone-chip-proof or maintenance-free.

What to buy with a coating

Supporting products should solve a preparation, application or maintenance need. Buy the coating first, then add only what the job genuinely requires: wash and decontamination products, paint-correction products where needed, coating applicators and clean removal towels, followed by safe maintenance products.

Quick answers

Will a ceramic coating stop scratches or stone chips?

No. It can support surface protection and easier maintenance, but it does not make paint scratch-proof or provide the impact protection of paint protection film.

Can I apply a coating over unprepared paint?

You can physically put product on the surface, but poor cleaning, contamination or defects can reduce bonding and leave a disappointing finish. Preparation determines the result.

Which OPTiX coating is easiest to start with?

OP888 is the controlled, forgiving option in the current range. “Forgiving” does not mean preparation and directions can be skipped.

When should I use an installer?

Use an installer when the coating is professional-only, the paint requires correction, the working environment is unsuitable, or you want a professional coating package and current warranty pathway.
