OPTiX Matte Series Paint Protection Film is a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film with a satin/matte finish, designed to provide physical paint protection while altering the surface appearance to a uniform matte look.

Unlike gloss PPF, which preserves factory shine, matte PPF diffuses light to reduce reflections and create a consistent satin finish across painted panels. It is commonly used on factory matte paint, satin paint, or gloss paint where a matte appearance is desired without repainting.

What Paint Protection Film (PPF) Actually Is

Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a multi-layer TPU film applied over painted surfaces to help reduce paint damage caused by:

  • stone chips and road debris

  • light abrasion and wash-related marring

  • bug splatter and environmental fallout

PPF provides physical protection by absorbing and dispersing impact energy before it reaches the paint surface. This is fundamentally different from ceramic coatings, which sit on the surface and do not absorb impact.

How Matte PPF Differs from Gloss PPF

Matte PPF performs the same protective role as gloss PPF, but with additional visual considerations:

  • Produces a satin or matte finish

  • Reduces surface reflections

  • Helps even out panel-to-panel appearance

  • Preserves factory matte paint or converts gloss paint to matte

Because of the matte surface texture, maintenance and cleaning methods differ slightly from gloss PPF and require more careful product selection.

Key Features of OPTiX Matte Series PPF

When professionally installed, OPTiX Matte Series PPF offers:

  • Physical protection against stone chips and minor abrasion

  • A satin/matte finish without repainting

  • A hydrophobic top layer that helps resist staining

  • A self-healing surface layer that may reduce the appearance of fine marks caused by light wash marring over time

Self-healing properties apply to minor surface marks only and do not prevent deeper damage.

What OPTiX Matte Series Helps With

Matte PPF can help:

  • Reduce the likelihood of stone chip damage

  • Protect high-impact areas such as bonnets, bumpers, and guards

  • Preserve factory matte or satin paint finishes

  • Reduce contamination adhesion and ease routine cleaning

  • Maintain a consistent matte appearance over time

Performance depends on installation quality, panel exposure, driving conditions, and aftercare.

What Matte PPF Does NOT Do

It is important to set realistic expectations.

OPTiX Matte Series PPF does not:

  • Make paintwork indestructible

  • Prevent all stone chips or impacts

  • Stop dents or heavy abrasion

  • Eliminate wear at edges or seams

  • Allow aggressive polishing or abrasive cleaning

Matte PPF reduces risk and wear — it does not eliminate them.

Film Thickness & Options

OPTiX Matte Series PPF is offered in film configurations designed to balance protection and conformability. Thicker films may offer increased impact resistance but are not suitable for all vehicle shapes or tight contours.

Film selection should be based on panel design, use case, and installer recommendation.

Warranty Overview

OPTiX Matte Series PPF includes a limited product warranty covering manufacturing defects such as:

  • cracking

  • yellowing

  • delamination

  • adhesive failure related to material defects

Warranty coverage is conditional on correct installation and appropriate aftercare.

Not covered:

  • installer error

  • impact or accident damage

  • normal wear and tear

  • edge lifting caused by environmental exposure or handling

  • damage caused by improper washing or chemicals

Full warranty terms should be reviewed prior to installation.

Installation & Aftercare

Professional installation is strongly recommended for matte PPF.

To maintain appearance and longevity:

  • use pH-neutral shampoos

  • avoid polishing or abrasive products

  • avoid high-pressure water at edges

  • remove contaminants promptly

  • inspect edges periodically

Ceramic coatings may be applied over matte PPF to enhance hydrophobic behaviour, but they do not increase impact protection and must be matte-safe products.

Who OPTiX Matte Series Is Designed For

  • Professional PPF installers

  • Vehicles with factory matte or satin paint

  • Owners seeking a matte finish with physical paint protection

  • Performance, luxury, and enthusiast vehicles

OPTiX Matte Series is designed as part of a long-term paint preservation strategy, not as a cosmetic shortcut.
