A ceramic coating is easier to look after than bare paint, but it is not maintenance-free. The wash method still matters. Dirt left to build up, harsh chemicals used without a reason, and poor drying habits can reduce the behaviour you expect from the coating and can mark the paint underneath.

This method suits routine road film, loose dirt, light dust, insects and normal day-to-day contamination on a fully cured OP888-coated vehicle. It is also a good inspection routine for paint, exterior glass and compatible coated wheel finishes.
It is not a fix for bonded mineral deposits, overspray, heavy industrial fallout, deep scratches, failed paint, damaged film or a coating application fault. Those problems need diagnosis first. Stronger chemistry is not automatically the answer.
Tools, products and personal protection

1. Prepare clean tools before wetting the car
Set out the paint-wash tools separately from the wheel tools. Confirm that towels and mitts are clean and free of grit. Read the wash-product label and prepare only the amount and dilution it currently specifies. Guessing a stronger mix wastes product and can make rinsing more difficult.
2. Clean wheels with dedicated tools
Work on cool wheels. Rinse away loose material, then clean one wheel at a time with tools that never touch the bodywork. Do not allow wheel cleaner or loosened brake residue to dry. Rinse thoroughly before moving on.
3. Pre-rinse the vehicle carefully
Rinse from the top down, spending extra time on lower panels, the rear and the front bumper. The purpose is to remove as much loose grit as possible before contact washing. Keep concentrated pressure away from damaged paint, loose trim, seals and exposed PPF edges.
4. Contact wash from cleaner areas to dirtier areas
Wash the roof and upper sections first, then work down the vehicle in manageable sections. Use straight, controlled passes rather than aggressive circular scrubbing. Rinse the mitt frequently so removed dirt does not stay against the paint. Leave the dirtiest lower sections until last.
The shampoo should provide cleaning and lubrication; force should not. If a mark will not release with light, methodical washing, do not keep rubbing it.
5. Rinse completely
Rinse every panel, gap, mirror housing, grille, wheel and lower edge. Check that detergent has not collected in badges, handles or panel joins. In warm conditions, rinse completed areas often enough that the solution cannot dry on the surface.
6. Dry without dragging contamination back over the paint
Use clean drying towels with light pressure, or blow water out of crevices with suitable equipment. Change towels when they become loaded. Do not use a bathroom towel, chamois or workshop rag simply because it is nearby. Water trapped in mirrors, handles and badges should be removed before it runs over the clean panel and dries.
7. Inspect the result
Under good lighting, check for remaining dirt, water spots, streaks and isolated areas that behave differently. A clean coating should be assessed only after proper washing and rinsing. Poor water behaviour on a dirty panel does not prove that the coating has failed.
